Collaboration

EIPA Luxembourg and the European University Centre in Nancy have cooperated for over two decades. The MELS Online is a fruit of this collaboration. Thanks to our ‘academic programme transfer agreement’, the duly accredited French Master programme is implemented and delivered in Luxembourg by EIPA. In accordance with the agreement, the original programme of the Master of European Legal Studies has been fine-tuned by EIPA MELS team to fit the needs of professionals who work full time.

"The Master of European Legal Studies (MELS) has been developed with a particular student profile in mind - a student who may already have launched a professional career, but who still feels a thirst for knowledge and the need for professional development; a student who demands a thorough, yet flexible study programme."

EIPA Luxembourg: the European Centre for Judges and Lawyers

The European Institute of Public Administration (EIPA) was established in 1981 on the occasion of the first European Council held in Maastricht.

Our Luxembourg Centre, located in the renovated Maison de Maître, was established under a convention signed in 1992 between the Government of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg and EIPA.

Since its inception, the European Centre for Judges and Lawyers has been
a trusted provider of practice-oriented training, with a focus on the interpretation, transposition, and application of EU law.

The Centre’s in-house team of experienced legal experts are dedicated to delivering high-quality training, consultancy, coaching services, and comparative studies. With a deep understanding of EU law and its incorporation into national law, our experts offer tailored solutions to legal professionals and public officials in the EU institutions and national public administrations.

Specific outreach also goes to applicant and candidate countries, as well as those under the European Neighbourhood Policy and other third countries.

The University of Lorraine: the European University Centre

The University of Nancy was established in the sixteenth century and is one of the oldest universities in France. Nancy 2, which mainly deals with legal disciplines, is one of the three departments of Nancy University. In line with its tradition of openness beyond national borders, this university participates in major international exchange programmes instituted by the European Union and has been granted the status of European University Centre. On 1 January 2012, the University of Nancy 2 and three other institutions have merged into the Université de Lorraine.

Set up in 1950 and mainly supported by the European Union, the European University Centre of Nancy is an institute which, in the framework of the university, carries out training and research activities in the European field. These activities are aimed at nationals of many countries. Its research mainly focuses on the relation between the European Union and its Member States, the analysis of Union sectoral policies and relations between the European Union and the countries of Western Balkans and Eastern Europe.
